The original! Now with ECO-EPDM rubber
FORSHEDA shock absorbers are made of ECO-EPDM rubber, a material with excellent resistance to sunlight, salt water and ozone. ECO-EPDM rubber does not fade. The line is simply passed through the patented nylon clips at each end, no further knots are required. New material composition for better properties and over 60% environmentally friendly materials.
The stretch length of the FORSHEDA rubber shock absorber can be adjusted to suit local conditions:
- 1 turn: the line around the shock absorber on calm waters without swell or waves. Little freedom of movement for the boat, low damping
- 2 turns: the line around the shock absorber in light swell and tidal waters.
- 3 turns: the line around the shock absorber in open and unprotected moorings. Lots of freedom of movement for the boat, strong damping

Ideally, each mooring line should be equipped with a FORSHEDA shock absorber. When moored at a fixed jetty, all 4 shock absorbers work together and compensate for practically every movement of the ship. FORSHEDA shock absorbers should never be dispensed with when moored on a floating dock. This is the only way to compensate for the swinging movements of the jetty. The FORSHEDA shock absorber is supplied in 4 different sizes to ensure optimum adjustment to your boat and the mooring lines used:
The convenience and quality of FORSHEDA shock absorbers do not, of course, release you from your duty of care. Weather situations can always occur that even FORSHEDA shock absorbers can no longer compensate for. A regular check of the mooring lines is always recommended. Mooring lines that are too short or too long should also be avoided. Mooring lines that are too short cause the rubber to age more quickly and cause wear due to abrasion on the shock absorber. Mooring lines that are too long allow the boat to swing sideways in the box in appropriate weather conditions with the risk of touching the dolphins or neighbouring boats.
Of course, FORSHEDA shock absorbers also age. To make it easier for the owner to check, an EXPIRY DATE is printed on each shock absorber. Both the shock absorber and the mooring line should be replaced on this date.
